Pellissippi State graduation scheduled for May 2
Approximately 721 Pellissippi State students will receive their degree May 2 in a Commencement ceremony that begins at 7 p.m. Knoxville Mayor Bill Haslam will be the speaker at the event, which takes place at Thompson-Boling Arena on the University of Tennessee campus. (more)

Foundation receives $50,000 for new Blount campus from Rep. McCord
State Rep. Joe McCord has presented the Pellissippi State Foundation with a check for $50,000 to benefit the College’s new Blount County Campus. (more)
New high-definition studio keeps Pellissippi State at technology forefront
The College had a lot to be proud of last fall. That’s when its new state-of-the-art Bagwell Center for Media and Art opened for classes on the Pellissippi Campus. Now comes the proverbial icing on the cake: this semester, the College christened a new high-definition video and sound studio in the Bagwell Center.

Student composer to encore at April 24 Spring Choral Concert
Music is all about emotion. And when Nick Powell sits down at the piano at the Spring Choral Concert, he’ll be emotionally pumped. As the Concert Chorale sings his composition “Honor and Glory,” Powell will be recapturing the emotion he felt when he wrote it. (more)
Shakespeare Night April 24 at Magnolia Avenue Campus
Brutus will betray Caesar in the forum, Romeo and Juliet will find love on the balcony—and the audience will witness the drama. The performances take place at Shakespeare Night in the Courtyard on the Magnolia Avenue Campus April 24 at 7 p.m. The public is invited to attend the event. (more)
Robotics team places in top eight in Southeastern competition

Pellissippi State’s robotics team recently went head to head with the big guys and came away in the top eight in regional competition. The LUNAtics, a team of six Electrical Engineering Technology students, faced off in a robotics competition with teams from 40 other schools, most of them four-year colleges and universities. (more)
Course on personal safety and crime prevention offered
Pellissippi State, in conjunction with the national organization Women in the Outdoors, is offering a non-credit course called “Refuse to Be a Victim” Saturday, May 3. (more)
Pellissippi State + ETSU degree partnership = smart dollars and sense
Some images die hard. In the construction industry, for example, the stereotype of men in hardhats and jeans, working physically demanding jobs, exposed to unpleasant weather and deafening noise, lingers.
