Student wins American Marketing Association award

A Pellissippi State student with a special interest in event marketing has earned a top award from the Knoxville chapter of the American Marketing Association.

Kimberly M. Downey of Knoxville received the Outstanding Marketing Leadership Award from the local professional organization in early April. This was the first time that the AMA chapter has presented the award to a Pellissippi State student.

Downey is one of the founders of the Pellissippi State chapter of the AMA and serves as vice president for membership. She designed the chapter's Web site, has taken photographs of chapter activities and helped organize a series of seminars for chapter members.

She will receive an Associate of Applied Science degree in marketing next month.

Downey is working in an internship for Impact Associates of Maryville and plans to enroll in organizational leadership, an East Tennessee State University bachelor's degree concentration that soon will be offered at Pellissippi State.
