Sen. Atchley, wife host annual 'Artique' auction April 29
The Pellissippi State Foundation's third annual "Artique" fine arts and antiques auction will take place April 29, and retired state Sen. Ben Atchley and his wife, Sue, will serve as guest hosts.
Artique 2005, which will begin at 7 p.m. at the Knoxville Marriott Hotel, is intended to raise funds to benefit Pellissippi State students and programs. It is open to the public.
More
than 80 pieces of art will be available during the auction. Along
with local and regional artists' works, approximately 20 valuable
antiques will be available for sale, mostly from the 19th century.
In addition, several non-art package items will be offered during
the auction, including a weekend at the Maggie Valley, North Carolina,
vacation home owned by Dr. Allen Edwards, Pellissippi State's president;
an 18-hole round of golf with Knoxville Mayor Bill Haslam and Knox
County Mayor Mike Ragsdale; and a child-sized playhouse in the form
of a Smoky Mountain cabin, designed by Pellissippi State Interior
Design Technology students and built by faculty and students from
the Engineering Technology program.
Bill Landry, host of WBIR-TV's "Heartland Series," will be master of ceremonies for the evening, and William "Bear" Stephenson from Stephenson Realty and Auction will be the auctioneer. Signature sponsors of the event are Pilot Travel Centers LLC and Scripps Networks Inc.
Individual tickets and tables are available now for the black-tie-optional event. Tickets are $50 for faculty and staff members and are available from the Foundation through April 27. For tickets or information, call the Foundation at 694-6528.
