English instructor wins regional teaching award

An adjunct English instructor at Pellissippi State has been named the top adult educator in East Tennessee.

Judith A. Gosch, who has been teaching at the College since 2000, received the Adult Educator of the Year award at the East Tennessee College Alliance's Lifelong Learning Luncheon April 20.

This award recognizes an East Tennessee college faculty member who is dedicated to promoting lifelong learning and working with adult students in higher education. The alliance, which consists of 10 East Tennessee colleges and universities, provides educational services to local business and industry.

Gosch was an adult learner herself, having earned a bachelor's degree and master's degree several years after leaving high school. She graduated from high school in Maine in 1982 and started taking classes at Pellissippi State in 1986. She did not finish her associate's degree work until 1996. She later completed her bachelor's and master's degrees in English from the University of Tennessee.

This is Gosch's first teaching award.
