English instructor wins regional teaching award

An adjunct English instructor at Pellissippi State has been named the top adult educator in East Tennessee. Judith A. Gosch, who has been teaching at the College since 2000, received the Adult Educator of the Year award at the East Tennessee College Alliance's Lifelong Learning Luncheon April 20. (more)


Student wins American Marketing Association award

Kimberly M. Downey of Knoxville received the Outstanding Marketing Leadership Award from the local professional organization in early April. This was the first time that the AMA chapter has presented the award to a Pellissippi State student. (more)



Counselor earns national certification

Betsy Boyd, counselor at Pellissippi State's Blount County Center, recently earned a National Certified Counselor designation.


To earn certification from the National Board for Certified Counselors, candidates must hold a graduate degree in counseling from a regionally accredited institution, meet counseling experience criteria and pass a national board examination. (more)



Sen. Atchley, wife host annual 'Artique' auction April 29

The Pellissippi State Foundation's third annual "Artique" fine arts and antiques auction will take place April 29, and retired state Sen. Ben Atchley and his wife, Sue, will serve as guest hosts. (more)



College honor society earns four statewide awards

The Pellissippi State chapter of a national honor society has earned four top statewide awards for college and community service and for chapter growth. (more)



Reception set for Pellissippi State ’s African-American graduates

Pellissippi State is sponsoring its 12 th annual reception for African-American graduates April 26, starting at 5 p.m. in the Goins Building Student Lounge. The reception will include presentation of African kente stoles to the 35 graduates, who will receive their degrees May 8.



'Lessons from the Holocaust' presented at Blount County Center

The Adult Education program at Pellissippi State and Blount County's Adult Education program sponsored a special educational program on "Lessons from the Holocaust" April 20 at the College's Blount County Center. (more)



Freshman lands job before finishing degree work

While he is still attending classes, Stephen Hinzman works full time in the information systems department of Sea Ray Boats Inc., as a PC technical support specialist and assistant network administrator. (more)
