Outstanding Pellissippi State faculty and students recognized

Pellissippi State recognized its outstanding faculty and students at the 2008 Academic Awards ceremony March 31. The event took place in the Performing Arts Center on the Pellissippi Campus on Hardin Valley Road.

Two faculty members shared the honor of Faculty of the Year: Arlene Cleveland, an associate professor and program coordinator of the Paralegal Studies degree program, and Nancy C. Christian, an adjunct faculty member in Developmental Studies and activities coordinator for Student Life and Recreation.

The All U.S.A. Community and Junior College Academic Team honor was presented to Tania Abdul-Ahad and Mansour Fall by Allen G. Edwards, Pellissippi State president, in recognition of scholarly achievement.

The Outstanding Achievement Award for part-time students who maintain a 3.5 (or higher) grade point average went to Mary Deschamps and Diana L. Wenta.

The Outstanding Achievement Award–International was presented to Tania Abdul-Ahad, Anastasia V. Aksenova and Oskana Fields.

The Interior Design Technology Award of Merit was awarded to Lisa Dockery.

The French Award of Merit was presented to Sara E. Lowery for demonstrating superior work in second-year French.

The Mechanical Engineering Technology Award of Merit went to Andre Prigmore. The award is presented to a student who through diligent application and a persistent work ethic has demonstrated the greatest improvement in academic achievement in the MET degree program.

The Video Production Technology Award of Merit was presented to Zachary D. Cameron, and the Civil Engineering Technology Award of Merit went to Angela Cox.

The Communication Graphics Technology Award of Merit was earned by Bailey Robinson.

Several Outstanding Graduate Awards were presented: English, Mansour Fall; Fine Arts, Bryan Anderson Holland; Humanities, Heather Stahlman; Social Sciences, Angela Broussard-Chrisman; Mathematics, Mansour Fall; Behavioral Sciences, Nicholas Workman; and Natural Sciences, Marianna Smith.

Business and Computer Technology Outstanding Graduate honors went to Janet Meccia, Computer Accounting; Lisa Ann Wills, Computer Science and Information Technology; Robert Tyler Smith, E-Commerce/Marketing; Heather Howell, Hospitality; Barry Thompson, Management; Cheryl Mastrolia, Networking and Communications Systems Technology; Jennifer Fisher, Office Systems Technology/Business Concentration; Erin Clark, Office Systems Technology/Health Care Office Administration; and Genesis Jones, Paralegal Studies.

Engineering and Media Technologies Outstanding Graduate Awards went to Glen Stevenson, Civil Engineering Technology; Melissa Dos Santos, Communication Graphics Technology; Morgan Marie Wallace, Computer Integrated Drafting and Design; Jared Krupski, Electrical Engineering Technology; Laksmi Lumpkin, Interior Design Technology; Matthew Masley, Mechanical Engineering Technology; Dustin Alexander, Photography; Travis Austin Evans, Video Production Technology; and Matthew Poe, Web Technology.
