Honor
students recognized in Nashville
Alpha Theta Xi, the Pellissippi State chapter of Phi Theta
Kappa honor society, was awarded fifth place for the Most
Distinguished Chapter in Tennessee at the April PTK convention

honors record number of African-American graduates
The number of African-American students who graduated from
Pellissippi State May 4 was the highest in at least 14 years,
and the College honored the students at a reception April

names winners in regional middle school math competition
Square roots, integers, fractions and multipliers were the
order of the day April 27, as middle-schoolers who knew
their numbers participated in the fifth annual Tennessee
Middle School Mathematics Competition. (more)
The College's 32nd annual commencement May 4 began a
new tradition. For the first time in Pellissippi State's
history, colorful academic banners and a mace and chain
of office were part of the ceremony.
Throughout 2007 “Inside Pellissippi” will
focus on success stories of faculty or staff members
who have been involved in initiatives to help students.
Of those stories, many will focus on Foundations of
Excellence in the First College Year, which is an
effort specifically aimed at helping first-year students
succeed. Others will focus on student success stories
from various employees who work with students.
