College names Wise academic, student affairs VP
Anthony Wise has been named the new vice president of Academic
and Student Affairs at Pellissippi State.
“After
meeting and interviewing candidates, reviewing credentials and references,
and soliciting input from individuals and the search committee,”
said Allen Edwards, president, “I recommended to Chancellor
Manning that Dr. Anthony Wise be appointed to the position.
“Dr. Wise has served the College well as a faculty member
and as a department head and has conducted his duties as interim
vice president over the past few months in an exemplary manner.
We are very fortunate to have Dr. Wise agree to serve in this
capacity, and, upon his appointment, I look forward to working
with him in this new position.”
“It’s certainly a challenge that I look forward to,”
Wise said of his new assignment. “I think this is a great
college and a great community, and I welcome the opportunity to
work with everyone here to respond to the needs of Knox and Blount
counties as best we can.”
Wise began his career at the College as an instructor in 1998.
He was the Liberal Arts department head from January 2004 until
January of this year, when he took over as interim vice president
of Academic and Student Affairs.
He received a bachelor’s degree in history and business
economics from Wofford College in South Carolina in 1990, a master’s
degree in United States history from Wake Forest University in
North Carolina in 1993 and a doctorate in history from the University
of Tennessee in 1997.
He and his wife, Lynn, have three young children.
