Pellissippi State’s top faculty, staff members
named for 2004-05
Seven individual faculty and staff members, and one instructional
team, have earned the Pellissippi State Foundation’s 2005
Employee Awards.
Lisa Bogaty, associate professor of E-Commerce/Marketing, earned
the Excellence in Teaching Award, the Foundation’s top honor
for a full-time faculty member. A graduate of the University of
Tennessee with a master’s in business administration, Bogaty
helped start the Pellissippi State student chapter of the American
Marketing Association, and she has initiated several ties to the
business community that benefit students at the College.
Bogaty was cited for rating among the best in the College on student
evaluations and for classroom energy and enthusiasm.
Margaret Hicks, associate professor and program coordinator of
Biology, received the Foundation’s Innovations Award for
creative and original instructional and learning support activities.
A specialist in biomolecular modeling, Hicks was cited for her
work in the techniques of protein and DNA modeling. She earned
an undergraduate degree from Bryn Mawr College and a doctorate
from Northern Illinois University.
The College’s Media Technologies team earned the Gene Joyce
Visionary Award. The team secured a $2 million grant to start
a new program of studies that will combine Communications Graphics
Technology, Video Production Technology, Photography and Web Technology.
Members of the team are Ron Bellamy, Gay Bryant, David Gilbert,
KD Lawson, William “Biff” Farrell, Martha Merrill,
Linda Randolph and Margaret Ann Jeffries.
The outstanding full-time faculty member was Carol O’Farrell,
associate professor of English and advisor to the College’s
chapter of the Phi Theta Kappa national student honor society,
and the outstanding adjunct faculty member was Judith Gosch, instructor
in English, who also recently received the Adult Educator of the
Year award from the East Tennessee College Alliance.
College registrar Sheryl Burnette was named outstanding administrator,
and Annette ElDridge, technical clerk in Community Relations,
was named outstanding support professional.
Travis Watson, maintenance utility worker, was named outstanding
technical-service-maintenance staff member.
