Blount
County students travel different roads to graduation
They
traveled different roads to get there, but for Blount
County residents Yolanda Flowers, Carla Rayburn and Jonathan
Craig, the destination was the same—the stage at
Thompson-Boling Arena on May 16 to collect their associate's
degrees from Pellissippi State. (more)
Perseverance
pays off for Pellissippi State Paralegal Studies graduate
“This
is for my kids.” That's what Valerie Breeden would
remind herself when she had “crisis moments”
during her quest for her Associate of Applied Science
degree in Paralegal Studies from Pellissippi State. Breeden
had more than her fair share of crisis moments, but May
16 she graduated magna cum laude along with the class
of 2004. (more)

They’re
coming back to Pellissippi State!
Yes,
the hot air balloons that we used to see on the Pellissippi
Campus twice a year as part of a local radio station’s
balloon rally will return this fall. But this time the
event will be sponsored by the Pellissippi State Foundation.

The
outdoor extravaganza, set for August 27-28, will feature
a hot air balloon rally—including a Friday evening
balloon “glow” by the pond—outdoor activities
and games for all ages, an arts and crafts festival, food,
and more. Musical entertainment will be provided by Citadel
Communications of Knoxville, owner of WIVK, WNOX News
Talk 99, WOKI The River and Wild 98.7. Don’t miss
it!

Foundation’s
Artique proved successful
Approximately
400 people attended this year’s Artique May 15 at
the Knoxville Marriott. The event included a silent and
a live auction of a variety of artwork from some of the
best-known artists in the region and an eclectic mix of
antiques. Knox County Mayor Mike Ragsdale and his wife,
Claudia, hosted the auction with proceeds going to the
Foundation’s Greatest Need Fund and the Nursing
Program.
