EMPLOYEE PROFILE
Name: Bobby Jackson
Title:
Assistant Professor, Mathematics
Major responsibilities: Teaching developmental
and college-level mathematics, advising students and serving on
department and campuswide committees.
Length of service at the College: 4.5 years
Place of birth: Chicago
Family members: My wife, Markay, and our three
children: Dakota (7), Kathryn (5), and Christina (3).
Something no one knows about you: (A few know
about this.) I spend Wednesday nights acting in our church’s
“Kidstuf” weekly production. I play two characters:
Todd and the comic host. Todd is a laid-back surfer dude who tends
to get all his Bible stories mixed up. The comic host helps to
convey the night’s lesson by doing all the wrong things
and getting corrected by the regular host. As comic host I have
dressed up as a pilgrim, fanatical football fan and mad scientist.
Greatest achievement or proudest moment: The
birth of each of our children.
Favorite things outside work: Spending time
with my family. We are planning a six-week trip out to Seattle,
Washington, and back this summer. We will be driving through 14
different states during the course of the trip. I also enjoy reading,
watching college sports and running. I have a goal of running
in (and completing) a marathon before I turn 40.
Most
rewarding part of your job: When students actually enjoy
talking about and learning about mathematics (or any other academic
area).
Most influential person in your life and why:
Jesus Christ. He has completely changed my outlook on life like
no one else ever could.
Favorite quote: “And we know that God causes
all things to work together for good to those who love God, to
those who are called according to His purpose.”—Romans
8:28 NASB
