faces of adult education
Frederic Leyd,
like many adults, needed a General Education Development
credential to attend college. But that’s about the
only thing Leyd had in common with Shatoya Harper, Donald
Barnard and other GED students in the Adult Education program

Edwards honored with Project GRAD award
President Allen Edwards has received “The Caught Doing
Right for Kids” Award from Knoxville Project GRAD
for his work in helping students at participating Knoxville
schools. The ceremony took place at the Project GRAD Celebration
Dinner May 9 at the Knoxville Convention Center. (more)
Associate
professor recognized by international honor society
Carol O’Farrell, an associate professor of English,
has received the Paragon Award for new advisors from the
international honor society Phi Theta Kappa. (more)

Air Balloon festival grows in popularity
It
hasn’t even happened yet, but the Hot Air Balloon
Festival scheduled for September has already been selected
as a must-see event by the Southeast Tourism Society.
