Inside Pellissippi

College restricts smoking, tobacco products

Effective August 6, Pellissippi State has updated Policy No. 08:06:00, which restricts smoking and the use of tobacco products on all College campuses.

Smoking is now prohibited in all Pellissippi State buildings and indoor facilities; on campus grounds and walkways; and in other areas where nonsmokers cannot avoid environmental smoke. Smoking continues to be prohibited in any College vehicle.

The policy applies to the entire College community, including employees, students and visitors.

The use of mouth or smokeless tobacco also is prohibited under the updated policy and is subject to the same restrictions.

Each Pellissippi State location now has designated areas where smoking is allowed. Designated smoking areas are as follows:

Blount County Center: main Open parking area (gravel lot)

Division Street Campus: lower Open parking areas

Magnolia Avenue Campus: main Open parking area

Pellissippi Campus: outer parking areas 01, 02, 03, 06, 08, 09
