Title: Associate Professor, English (Reading)

Major responsibilities: Teaching students reading comprehension strategies; fostering a positive relationship with books for students; encouraging students to persevere, especially in DSP

Family members: Daughters—Gabrielle and Payton

Something no one knows about you: I went to college on a music scholarship—playing clarinet.

Greatest achievement or proudest moment: The baptisms of my daughters

Favorite things outside work: HGTV!

Most rewarding part of your job: Students who find a like/appreciation/love for reading. I get such JOY when they see me on campus or in the community and say, “Ms. Dendy, I read that book—it was really good! What else can you recommend?”

Most Influential Person in your life and why: At this time, Jesus is that person. He’s the only one with all my answers.

Favorite quote: I have two favorites: “I am part of all that I have read.”—John Kieran and “Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding.”—Proverbs 3:5.
