College announces fall, spring music performances

Pellissippi State has a busy schedule of recitals and concerts lined up for fall 2006 and spring 2007 semesters.

The performances for fall semester kick off October 5 with the Faculty Recital, this season entitled “A Musical Banquet.” (See this issue of “Inside Pellissippi” for details.)

The Fall Choral Concert on November 2 includes performances by the student musical groups Concert Chorale and Variations, conducted by Bill Brewer, associate professor of Music. The Fall Ensemble Concert on November 21 features all four small ensembles: brass, guitar, Celtic and harp.

The popular Holiday Spectacular is scheduled on December 5. This year’s presentation embraces cultures from around the world.

All fall musical performances begin at 8 p.m. and take place in the Performing Arts Center.

The spring 2007 season starts off with the Pellissippi Invitational Choral Festival on February 22 at 2 p.m. Choral groups from Roane State Community College, Walters State Community College and Pellissippi State will take the stage individually, and each performance will be reviewed by a guest clinician.

The season also includes the Student Honors Recital at 8 p.m. on March 15, followed on March 23-24 and March 30-April 1 by performances of the Broadway musical “Jesus Christ Superstar.” Sponsored by the Music program in conjunction with Theatre, the presentation features a cast of more than 35.

The Spring Ensemble Concert will be presented April 10 at 8 p.m., and the Spring Choral Concert will take place April 26 at 8 p.m.

All spring events will be in the Performing Arts Center.
