Four films highlight November French Film Festival
“Amelie” and “Les Choristes” are among
the four popular French films that will be shown at the annual
French Film Festival November 7-11.
The films, in French with English subtitles, will be shown free
of charge in the Goins Auditorium.
“Amelie” (R, 2001), starring Audrey Tautou, will be
shown November 7 at 1 p.m. and November 9 at 11 a.m. The comedy
was nominated for five Academy Awards, including Best Foreign
Film. “Les Choristes” (PG-13, 2004) will be shown
November 7 at 5:30 p.m., November 8 at 10:45 a.m., November 10
at 1:15 p.m. and November 11 at 11 a.m. The film was nominated
for an Oscar as Best Foreign Film earlier this year.
“A Very Long Engagement” (R, 2004) also starring Audrey
Tautou, will be shown November 7 at 3 p.m., November 8 at 1:15
p.m., November 10 at 10:45 a.m. and November 11 at 1 p.m. The
film was nominated for two Academy Awards earlier this year.
“La Cite des Enfants Perdus” (“The City of Lost
Children”), a 1995 science fiction film (rated R), will
be shown November 7 at 11 a.m. and November 9 at 1 p.m.
Each film will be introduced by Joan Easterly, professor of French
and Introduction to Film Studies. For additional information,
