State graduate breaks family’s education cycle
For
a girl who grew up thinking a college education was not
a possibility for her, Donna Logan has come a long way.

Disability
Awareness Day features speaker and expo
Carol
Westlake, the founding executive director of the Tennessee
Disability Coalition, will be the featured speaker at
a free Disability Awareness Day at Pellissippi State Oct.
12. The day is part of the college’s monthlong celebration
of cultures during October.
Through
the Coalition, Westlake works to organize and unite the
disability community to affect public policy and service
delivery for people with disabilities. She has been employed
in the Tennessee not-for-profit disability sector since
1985. Her background and training are in special education
and public policy.(more)
Free
study workshops offered
Have
you or someone you know developed poor study habits? Do
you have a tendency to procrastinate, lack concentration
or have problems dealing with stress? Get help by attending
one or all of four free “Study Smart” workshops
offered by Pellissippi State in October and November.

High school
juniors and seniors invited to fall Open House
Prospective
students and their parents can learn more about college
life during the fall Open House at Pellissippi State Saturday,
Nov. 13. The event begins at 9 a.m. in the Performing
Arts Center. Participants will have a chance to meet our
faculty and staff, as well as talk with current students.
A free lunch is also on the agenda. The Open House is
free, but reservations are requested by Nov. 5. Call 539-7155
