Three Knox County high schools join Pellissippi State ‘Dual Enrollment’ partnership

With the recent addition of Carter, Halls and Catholic high schools to the “Dual Enrollment” partnership offered through Pellissippi State, students from seven Knox County schools can now get ahead on taking college courses at a reduced tuition rate.

Through the Dual Enrollment program, high school students have the opportunity to complete some of their general education college courses prior to starting college. Having some of their courses behind them allows the students more flexibility in what they take during their freshman year in college.

Carter, Halls and Catholic high schools are the three most recent schools to take advantage of the partnership.

“Pellissippi State is delighted to have Carter, Halls and Catholic join Bearden, Farragut, Karns and West high schools in our Dual Enrollment program,” said Leigh Anne Touzeau, director of Admissions and Records. “It means more students can get a jump start on their college credits before graduating from high school.”

Part of the growth of Dual Enrollment classes is attributable to the Tennessee Dual Enrollment Grant, which provides up to $300 per semester in tuition for students enrolled in public, private or home school settings. Funds are available to students beginning as early as their junior year in high school.
