Pellissippi State leads $1.2 million program for teacher training in math, science

Pellissippi State will administer a new $1.25 million three-year grant from the National Science Foundation to support math and science instruction for future elementary schoolteachers.

Sociology professor Margaret Choka has won the 2005 June Anderson Award from the Women in Higher Education in Tennessee. (more)



Student’s work gets prominent display

On track to earn her associate’s degree in May, Lydia Light has designed her first billboard for display on Kingston Pike atop Bearden Hill. And what began as an unpaid internship for at local ad agency Low + Tritt Inc. has become a designer’s job at the agency. (more)

The role of fashion in culture will be explored in an interactive seminar October 24. (more)

Fall Employment Festival scheduled October 27

The Heart of Knoxville Career and Resource Center is sponsoring a Fall Employment Festival October 27. The festival will take place 11 a.m.-2 p.m. at the Magnolia Avenue Campus and is open to the public at no charge. (more)



Workshop focuses on suicide warning signs

Identifying the warning signs of potential suicide will be the subject of a free workshop November 1 at the Blount County Center. (more)



Benefits enrollment and transfers run through November 15

The annual one-month period during which employees can make changes to their benefits extends through November 15. (more)



Anderson to lead Greece trip in May

Instead of just reading about famous Greek philosophers, some students will get a better understanding of the subject by traveling to Greece and Turkey in the spring. (more)
