Small Ensembles to perform November 11This year's Small Ensemble Fall Concert on Tuesday, November 11, will feature the Harp Ensemble, conducted by Elizabeth Farr, in its first formal presentation. The Guitar Ensemble, conducted by Harold Nagge, and the Celtic Ensemble, also conducted by Farr, will perform as well. The Harp Ensemble will feature six harpists. “Even a single harp is not all that common—much less multiple harps!” said Dr. Linda Stutzenberger, associate professor and Music program coordinator. “The opportunity to see and hear such an array will be a sensory banquet.” The Guitar Ensemble plans to present pieces from George Benson, Johann Sebastian Bach, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart and the Gipsy Kings, according to Nagge. He said the ensemble will be accompanied by dancers on the Gipsy Kings tune. The Celtic Ensemble will perform a variety of jigs, ballads and airs from the Celtic tradition. Instruments may vary, but they typically include harp, fiddle, guitar, flutes, and drums.
The November 11 performance will be held at 8 p.m. in the Performing Arts Center. Admission is free; however, donations for the Music Scholarship Fund will be accepted at the door.
