Pellissippi State Holiday Spectacular accommodates
crowds with two shows
Thanks to a history of standing-room-only crowds, this year Pellissippi
State will present two performances of its annual Holiday Spectacular
on Tuesday, December 4!
Bill Brewer, director of the musical event, says community response
in the past few years has been phenomenal.
To meet the demand, two showings of the Ninth Annual Holiday Spectacular
are scheduled—one at 6 and one at 8 p.m. Each show lasts
about an hour and 20 minutes.
The event is in the Performing Arts Center.
Brewer, associate professor of Music, says he is predicting a
100 percent chance of snow at both performances.
“The setting will be beautiful and wintry,” he said,
“with Christmas trees, wreaths, poinsettias and festive
lights that change with the mood of each piece.
“This is our showcase, the premier event of the year, and
we’re planning an event the audience is really going to
enjoy. And yes, I do guarantee we’ll have a little bit of
snow.”
The 135-member Holiday Spectacular cast is made up of two student
choral ensembles and a faculty-staff choir, a brass ensemble,
a guitar ensemble, a harp ensemble and a jazz band, along with
a dance class at Pellissippi State.
The concert is free, but the Pellissippi State Foundation will
accept donations to the Music Scholarship fund.
