Inside Pellissippi

Share some stuffing with international students

Got any extra room at the Thanksgiving table? If so, set a place for a couple of our international students and invite them for dinner.

“We try to help the international students learn something of U.S. culture,” said Elaine Oswald, English professor and faculty sponsor of International Club. “We’d like anybody who has an open home on Thanksgiving Day—and a warm heart—to take a couple of international students and invite them for a Thanksgiving meal.

“They are usually very hard-working, very smart. They come here and do all the academic stuff and take a heavy load of classes, but it’s good for them to learn something about the culture, too. They’d love to meet people and visit their homes.”

If you would like to host two or more international students, e-mail Elaine Oswald, feoswald@pstcc.edu, or Susan Thomas, smthomas@pstcc.edu.
