Pellissippi State offers skiing, snowboarding courses
for credit
Old Man Winter approaches, and Pellissippi State is getting into
the spirit by offering credit courses in snow skiing and snowboarding.
The classes are January 7-10 at Cataloochee Ski Area in Maggie
Valley, North Carolina, and both are open to the public.
People enrolling in either class on or before December 13 are
eligible to earn one hour of credit in physical education for
spring semester 2008.
The snow skiing course (PHED1070) is $235, and the snowboarding
course (PHED2000) is $260.
The cost per person for each course is based on four people to
a room and includes some meals (three breakfasts and two lunches),
lift tickets, lessons and equipment. The price increases if fewer
than four stay in a room, and the cost decreases slightly if equipment
rental is not required.
People not enrolled at Pellissippi State but interested in the
courses are required to complete an admission application, which
carries a $10 application fee, and to be accepted as a nondegree
student.
Participants must be at least 18 years of age. They also must
attend a course-related seminar at 6 p.m. December 13. The seminar
is in the Cafeteria Annex of the Goins Building, located on the
Pellissippi Campus.
Fees are due no later than December 13 and can be paid at the
seminar.
If participants drop a course before the March 31 refund deadline,
their money will be returned, minus a $50 processing fee. After
the deadline, refunds will be at the instructor’s discretion.
For more information on the courses, call Cathy Clay at 694-6574
or Joan Jackson at 694-6573.
