Magnolia Avenue Drama Club presents ‘The Dear Departed’

“The Dear Departed,” a comedy in one act adapted from the play by Stanley Houghton, will be presented by the Magnolia Avenue Campus Drama Club December 7-8 at 7 p.m.

The play will be performed in the Community Room of the Magnolia Avenue Campus.

“We’ll be performing a modern twist on the hilarious production of ‘The Dear Departed,’ about one family’s big misunderstanding,” said Naomi Fauvel-Doucette, Pellissippi State student and president of the Magnolia Avenue Campus Drama Club.

Houghton was a young British dramatist and critic who was pronounced a dramatic genius upon release of his last play, “Hindle Wakes,” in 1912. He died the following year.

“The Dear Departed” was first performed in 1908.

The play is free and open to the public, and donations will be accepted at the door. Donations go to the Pellissippi State Foundation for the benefit of the Magnolia Avenue Campus Drama Club.

Those in attendance are invited to stay afterwards for refreshments with the cast.

Formed in 2005, the club consists of Pellissippi State students, faculty and staff.
