Representatives of Trillium Construction Services and Alcoa Inc. will visit the Heart of Knoxville Career and Resource Center this week to recruit prospective employees. (more)



‘Foundations of Excellence’ representatives praise College during November visit

Representatives from the Policy Center on the First Year of College gave high praise to Pellissippi State last week when they visited the campus as part of a study to develop better ways to support and retain first-year college students. (more)



College honors Blount County car dealership, owners for support

West Chevrolet and its owners, Steve and Ruth West, received recognition for their contributions to Pellissippi State and its students at a National Philanthropy Day observance in Knoxville November 17. (more)



Freshmen eligible for additional scholarships in 2006-07

Pellissippi State will provide up to four new scholarships through the Edscholar scholarship program for incoming freshmen in the 2006-07 academic year. (more)



‘Artificial Intelligence’ added to computer science courses

CSIT 2490 is Pellissippi State’s first class dealing with artificial intelligence. Students are advised, however, that the course is not a discussion of the Steven Spielberg film. Instead, the class promises to prepare students for the dawning of a new “age of spiritual machines,” a reference to the title of one of the course texts. (more)

Title: Secretary III (officially); receptionist/administrative assistant (as needed)

Work Location: Tennessee Small Business Development Center, 17 Market Square

Major Responsibilities: Customer service. I greet visitors to the resource center, answer the phone, prepare materials for classes, book appointments, and create and update class schedule fliers. I also do data entry, send class announcements to newspapers and assist clients with research.

Length of service at the College: 5 years
