Major gifts campaign breaks record... and continues
Connecting Communities, Changing Lives has proved
to be the largest fundraising campaign in the 34-year history of Pellissippi State.
Conducted by the Pellissippi State Foundation, the campaign has raised in excess of $6.3 million in gifts and short- and long-term pledges.
More than $2.4 million has come in since the fiscal year began last July—and the Pellissippi State Foundation and its volunteers continue to secure resources to support the most critical funding priorities (listed at right).
Between the Cornerstone Foundation of Knoxville and an anonymous donor, $700,000 in challenge grant funding has been established to encourage others to invest in the Nursing program at the Magnolia Avenue Campus and in the new Blount County Campus.
Thanks to the recent purchase of nearly 40 acres in Blount County, campaign volunteers are now working to secure donations to underwrite and equip the new campus, which is expected to open for classes in the fall of 2010. The groundbreaking ceremony for construction was May 29.
“Our community understands the critical role Pellissippi State plays in our region,” said Knox County Campaign Co-chair Cathy Ackermann, president of Ackermann PR.
“That is why so many members of the community have invested in this major gifts campaign.”
