Renowned photographers speak, Photography studio dedicated
Internationally known photographers Jay Dickman and Jay Kinghorn took their audience behind the camera lens during a joint presentation called “Meet the Pros” on March 26 at Pellissippi State. The evening began with their participation in the dedication of the new KD Lawson Photography Studio.
The speakers discussed the inspirations behind their
cutting-edge digital photography, shared lessons learned along the way and demonstrated tools of their trade.
Attendees had the opportunity to meet Dickman, a Pulitzer Prize-winning photographer whose work has appeared frequently in National Geographic magazine, and Kinghorn, an expert in the use of Photoshop computer software, immediately after the presentation. “Meet the Pros” was sponsored by Pellissippi State and Olympus.
Prior to the presentation, the College dedicated the new KD Lawson Photography Studio in the Bagwell Center for Media and Art. Jewelry Television donated money to the Pellissippi State Foundation in honor of Lawson.
The studio is named for the longtime head of Photography at Pellissippi State, who died unexpectedly November 11. Lawson designed the photography studio for Jewelry Television, and the Pellissippi State studio is modeled after that design.
A scholarship also has been created in memory of Lawson. To find out more or make a donation to the KD Lawson Memorial Scholarship, call the Pellissippi State Foundation at (865) 694-6528.
