Welcome to Culinary Arts
Culinary Arts. It's an art form. A career path. And you can start your journey at any age.
Pellissippi State offers an accelerated Associate of Applied Science degree in Business Administration with a concentration in Culinary Arts. The degree can be completed in four semesters. Earning an A.A.S. with a concentration in Culinary Arts opens possibilities for a dynamic future in the food service industry—locally and worldwide. Graduates can tap into careers in industries including restaurants, catering, clubs, hotels, conventions, attractions and travel.
The Culinary Arts concentration marks a first-time program collaboration between Pellissippi State and the University of Tennessee. In cooperation with UT Retail Hospitality and Tourism Department, the Pellissippi State program offers advantages for students in terms of instruction, location and cost.
Chefs teach to American Culinary Federation certification standards. Graduates certify through the National Restaurant Association in food production and sanitation. They can apply to the ACF to become certified culinarians, the first step toward professional chef certification.
The Culinary Arts concentration is offered as a cohort. In a cohort, students begin and progress through a degree program together, as a united group. Cohorts encourage greater community and teamwork among students as well as greater individualized attention from faculty.
