English for Speakers of Other Languages

Are you ready to learn English at Pellissippi?

Improve your English skills in our English Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) classes.

Everyone is welcome to take English (ESOL) classes at Pellissippi State.  How you become a student depends on your residency status in the United States.

Learn about the costs associated with attending Pellissippi.

If you are not a resident of the United States, don’t worry, contact international@pstcc.edu and we will work with you individually to get enrolled.

If you are a current resident, let’s get started.  There are several necessary steps to become a student at Pellissippi.

First, you need to sign up for and take the Michigan Test. For more information, or help scheduling the test, contact the Start Strong Center (865-694-6400). Results will take a few days to process and will be sent to your Pellissippi State email address. This Michigan Test is free for students. If you prefer not to take the Michigan Test, Pellissippi State also accepts TOEFL or IELTS results.

While waiting for the results of the Michigan Test, the next step is to apply for financial aid. To see if you are eligible for financial aid, you must complete the FAFSA. If you need help completing the FAFSA form, a member of our staff will be glad to help you.

After a few weeks, you will have your Michigan Test scores and financial aid.  The final step is to contact Patty Moore in the Advising Office for assistance with advising and selecting the right classes.

If you have any questions or need help during the application process, please contact ESOL.
