MEDIA TECHNOLOGIES: AUDIO PRODUCTION ENGINEERING (A.A.S.)

Audio is vital to everything that entertains and informs us – from TV and movies to live performances, podcasts and video games.

Pellissippi State’s Audio Production Engineering program lets you flex your creative and technical skills in audio engineering and production, music production, post-production, broadcast, live sound and field recording using the latest in industry-standard equipment and software. Students get advanced instruction in the classroom from instructors with years of practical experience, as well as from internships and service learning with industry professionals.

Get outside the classroom with opportunities to work professional concerts, music festivals and other events. Our Audio Production Engineering students have handled sound for everything from “Live at Lucille’s” on East Tennessee PBS to Knoxville’s annual Big Ears Festival.

An Associate of Applied Science degree in Audio Production Engineering from Pellissippi State will prepare you for an exciting career in the diverse and rapidly growing field of audio engineering in only two years. The program also offers certificates for professionals needing upgraded training as well as the option to transfer credits to a four-year institution for a bachelor’s degree.

TYPICAL JOB OPPORTUNITIES: Live sound engineer, post-production audio editor, studio engineer, sound designer, broadcast audio engineer, field audio engineer, audio system technician, media management, and production manager.
