Media Technologies: Photography (A.A.S.)

These days it seems like anyone can take a good picture, but only a few can do it for a living. As e-commerce and social media continue to grow, so does the need for well-rounded and highly skilled photographers. Pellissippi State’s Photography program cultivates your passion for photography into a creative and rewarding career in visual communication.

With access to full-sized studios, the latest gear and most up-to-date software, you’ll learn the fundamentals of cameras, lenses, composition, lighting and Photoshop as well as professional skills like directing commercial shoots and working with clients. Thanks to partnerships with local media companies, you’ll have the chance to work right away. Graduates from our program continue to enjoy lucrative careers in photography and have been published around the world.

Maybe earning a living as a professional photographer isn’t your thing – you just want to be the best photographer you can be. You can still benefit from the hands-on experience the Photography program provides.

Typical job opportunities: Freelance photographer, studio owner, corporate or industrial, wedding, portrait, photojournalism, editorial, travel, lifestyle, social media, stock and education.

Typical salaries for professional photographers can be as high as $79,500 per year with a median salary of $48,885 per year.
