Dr. Jeffries received her Bachelor of Science in Interior Design from the University of Tennessee. She received her Masters' of Science in Interior Design form the University of Tennessee and was awarded her Doctorate in Human Ecology also from the University of Tennessee.

Dr. Jeffries developed, promoted and implemented the Interior Design Technology program at Pellissippi State Technical Community College in 1995 and continues to serve as Program Coordinator. She served as Interim Department Head for the Engineering and Media Technologies Department at PSTCC from July to December 1999. In January 2000, she was promoted to Department Head for the Engineering and Media Technologies Department. In January 2008, her title was changed to Dean, Engineering and Media Technologies.

Dr. Jeffries is a professional member of the American Society of Interior Designers (ASID) and the Interior Design Educators Council (IDEC). She actively participates in the local association of ASID and maintains registration as a professional interior designer. She was awarded the Tennessee Interior Design Award (IDA) for education by the Tennessee Chapter of the American Society of Interior Designers in August '99.
