longevityThe Active Black Student Association was established in 1985 at Pellissippi State Technical Community College. The purpose of ABSA is to:

  • Responsibly promote minority participation in the planning and implementation of college programs and policies.
  • Serve as a vehicle through which minority students may respond to current college issues, problems and instructional goals.
  • Promote principles of human dignity and concern for the interest of both the college and the community.
  • To provide a forum for the open discussion of matters of interest and concern to the minority student.
  • Promote school spirit and offer motivation, support and information to all members.
  • To make a positive impact on the business community.
  • To actively participate in the Council of Student Advocates activities.
