REGISTRATION CHANGES

The first day of registration for the Fall 2008 semester is April 7th. It’s also the first day for many changes in Pellissippi State’s registration process. We encourage you to sign up for classes as soon as possible to make the transition easier.

ATTENTION NEW STUDENTS: If you are new to Pellissippi State for fall 2008, it’s essential that you make an appointment to see an advisor and register for classes as soon as possible. Keep in mind that your admission file must be complete prior to making an appointment.

ATTENTION RETURNING STUDENTS: If you’re a returning student, you need to see your advisor and register for classes before the spring semester is over. Don’t wait until August to complete your registration.

Why? Meeting with an advisor and registering early guarantees you’ll get one-on-one attention without waiting in line. It’s a time to get all of your questions answered in a relaxed setting. More important, registering early better ensures that you’ll get the class schedule you want.

This is especially important for fall 2008, because the registration process is changing. Starting fall semester

• The College will implement new registration software.
• You will be able to add classes and change sections only through Wednesday, August 27.

You may still drop a class after that date, but you will not be allowed to add a class to replace the dropped one. Worst case scenario: If you drop below full-time status, your financial aid will be affected.

So, remember: Register early for fall semester to get the classes you want!

Important! Effective fall 2008, you will no longer be permitted to add a course after Wednesday, August 27. Make sure your classes are the ones you need, when you need them, before the semester begins.

STEPS FOR ENROLLING

Step 1: GAIN ADMISSION

Complete Application for Admission.
Pay $10 application fee.

DEGREE-SEEKING STUDENTS

Submit official high school transcripts or GED scores.
Submit official college transcripts and test scores (if applicable-See Step 3).
Submit hepatitis B and measles/mumps/rubella immunization forms as necessary. For forms and exemptions:http://www.pstcc.edu/departments/admissions/imm.pdf

NON-DEGREE STUDENTS (Students not pursuing a degree or students seeking a certificate)

Submit high school transcripts or GED scores.
STUDENTS ARE NOTIFIED BY ADMISSION ACCEPTANCE LETTER IN THE MAIL APPROXIMATELY ONE WEEK AFTER SUBMITTING ADMISSION APPLICATION.

Step 2: APPLY FOR FINANCIAL AID

APPLY FOR FINANCIAL AID

All degree-seeking students should apply for financial aid, which includes scholarships. (Non-degree students are not eligible for financial aid.) Begin by completing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid and the Pellissippi State Scholarship Application. Remember: Applying early ensures you’ll be considered for financial assistance.

Step 3: SUBMIT TEST SCORES

PLACEMENT TEST: Students 21 and over who have not taken college-level English or math at an accredited college must take the placement test.

ACT/SAT: Students under 21 years of age must provide ACT or SAT test scores. Pellissippi State accepts ACT scores from either the Pellissippi State ACT test or the national ACT test. (We will accept national ACT test scores posted on the high school transcript.) Please note: National ACT or SAT test scores are required for eligibility for the Tennessee Education Lottery Scholarship. National ACT test dates are listed at www.act.org.

Step 4: MAKE ADVISING APPOINTMENT

DEGREE-SEEKING STUDENTS
Steps 1-3 must be completed BEFORE you can make an advising appointment.
Schedule an advising appointment by calling (865) 694-6400.

NON-DEGREE STUDENTS
Non-degree students are not required to see an advisor before registering. Remember to bring college transcripts or take the placement test if you plan to take math or English.

Step 5: REGISTER FOR CLASSES

Registering early gives you a better choice of course offerings and class times. For a complete list of registration dates: http://www.pstcc.edu. To register online, follow the instructions on the next page.

Step 6: ATTEND ORIENTATION

First-time degree-seeking freshmen are required to attend New Student Orientation to ensure a successful start at Pellissippi State. To make reservations for students and guests, please call 694-6400. Orientation for students beginning in the summer will be on May 23 from 10:30 until 1:00 on the Hardin Valley campus.

Step 7: PAY TUITION

Fees may be paid online, by mail or phone, or in person at the Cashier’s Office on any campus. For more info: http://www.pstcc.edu/departments/business_finance/cashier or (865) 694-6605. YOUR CLASS SCHEDULE WILL BE CANCELED IF YOUR FEES ARE NOT PAID BY THE DEADLINE.

HOW TO REGISTER ONLINE

1. Go to our homepage: http://www.pstcc.edu. Click on myPellissippi.
2. First-time login: Click on Help Me Change My Password. Call the Helpdesk at (865)
   694-6537 if you did not receive your myPellissippi user name and initial password.
3. Log in using your user name and new password.
4. Click on Academics.
5. Click on Registration, Grades and More!!
6. Click on Student and Financial Aid.
7. Click on Registration.
8. Click on Registration Status to see if you have any registration holds. If you are a
   new or second-semester student, you must meet with an advisor before registering.
9. Click on Look Up Classes to determine the sections (days and times) of the classes
   you want.
10. Click on the box to the left of the course section you want. Click on Register
    at the bottom of the page.
11. Repeat steps 9 and 10 for each course.
12. Click on Student and Financial Aid again, then Registration, then Detailed
    Schedule to see the locations of your classes. To print your schedule, click Print
    under the File window of your browser.
13. Fall semester fees are not available until July and are due by August 12. If you do
    not pay by the indicated date, your classes will be dropped.
14. Click on Registration Fee Assessment to determine your fees. Payment by
    MasterCard, Visa, Discover, American Express or check is accepted on the
    Web. You may also pay at the Cashier’s Office at any campus or visit us online at
    http://www.pstcc.edu/departments/business_finance/cashier for more information.
