Goals
The goals for the Liberal Arts Department during the 2005-2006 academic year are:
- to
enhance access to students via alternative methods of course delivery
- to improve the design and delivery of instruction though the evaluation of instructional processes and outcomes
- to provide cultural and social opportunities for the college and the local community.
To achieve these goals, faculty and staff in the department will:
- Develop and pilot web courses for PHIL 1030 and PHIL 2010; ART 1720 and ART 1730; and MUS 1030
- Develop and pilot and hybrid course for THEA 1030
- Evaluate learning assessment data for art and history programs
- Implement learning assessment tools for Spanish and Sociology
- Support the development of cooperative teaching groups
- Design a “skills-for-success” program for first-year and at-risk students
- Offer Music 1040 - Music in World Cultures
- Offer a “history film series” to supplement classroom instruction
- Continue the French Film Festival
- Continue to offer student and faculty musical performances
- Develop and implement a plan of action for Theatre Program performances
- Organize a co-curricular reading group for faculty, staff and students
