About CET

The Civil Engineering Technology (CET) program offers a two-year course of study leading to an Associate of Applied Science degree (AAS).

Civil engineering technicians work as members of project teams composed of engineers, geologists, environmentalists, chemists, and crafts specialists, in activities such as collecting and testing samples of soil for construction and environmental purposes; testing concrete and other construction materials for compliance with specifications; conducting surveys of property boundaries, roadways, and construction sites; preparing plans, specifications, bids, and site layouts based upon engineers' designs; and preparing reports describing these activities.

The emphasis is on practical aspects. Students use state-of-the-art equipment in small classes and laboratories taught by engineers who have years of experience in their fields.

Cooperative Education/Internships

Students can gain valuable on-the-job experience while in college through co-op education. Students may take advantage of co-op after completing 30 semester hours in the program. Various local manufacturing and engineering firms have employed co-op students. A number of students have been hired full-time after graduation in businesses where they served as co-op employees.
