Common Courses for ALL Nursing Programs 
 
Students starting a nursing program who are unsure of the nursing school in which they wish to transfer may take one full semester of course work that is common to ALL nursing programs before making a decision. They should choose the new advising code NS01 to be assigned an appropriate advisor. The schedule below assumes completion of developmental coursework.

2 UTK requires MATH 2050 instead.
3 PSY 1010 is required by ETSU, UTK, Tennessee Wesleyan, Carson-Newman, and WSCC; PSY 2400 is 
   required by RSCC and LMU.
4 SPH is required by all schools except University of Tennessee. 
5 Due to the rigorous nature of BIOL 2010 & 2020, it is recommended that students take the 
   courses in their sophomore year or at least after completion of one semester of college-level 
   work.
6 English Composition II is required for the bachelor of science in nursing (BSN) only, not the 
   associate degree in nursing.

The information provided above is for students planning to transfer to another institution without graduating from PSTCC. 
For students interested in graduating from PSTCC, the following options are available:
 
Articulation with UTK in Nursing Leads to an associate of science degree from PSTCC and 
a bachelor’s degree in nursing (BSN) from UT, Knoxville (major code: GS37)
Articulation with Tennessee Wesleyan College in Nursisng
Leads to an associate of science degree from PSYCC and a bachelor's degree in nursing (BSN) from Tennessee Wesleyan College (major code: NS01)
General Associate’s Degree  Leads to an associate of arts or associate of science 
degree from PSTCC (See your advisor for information about necessary courses.)
Students should see their advisor for information regarding these programs. PSTCC does not currently offer an associate’s degree in nursing (ASN).   9/10/07
