The
Master Program
The teacher education
“bridge” program at Pellissippi State Technical Community
College (PSTCC) is collaboration with Tennessee Technological University
(TTU) and area K-12 schools. The goal of the project is to increase the
number of K-12 teachers in middle and east Tennessee and their literacy
in math and science. In addition, particular attention will be paid to
recruiting and retaining minority pre-service teachers.
The specific objectives
of this program will be encompassed in a Math and Science Teacher Education
Resource Hub (“MASTER” Hub) at PSTCC. This Hub will become
the central location for the other activities involved in this project
such as science, math, and instructional technology courses and seminars
that focus on the use of inquiry-based teaching and learning approaches.
In addition, the
Master Hub will provide support services for pre-service teachers in the
areas of mentoring teams, advising, and experiences for student development
such as workshops, field trips, and teacher education organizations and
conferences.
