The Civil Engineering Technology (CET) program offers a two-year course of study leading to an Associate of Applied Science degree (AAS). Civil engineering technicians work as members of project teams composed of engineers, geologists, environmentalists, chemists, and crafts specialists, in activities such as collecting and testing samples of soil for construction and environmental purposes; testing concrete and other construction materials for compliance with specifications; conducting surveys of property boundaries, roadways, and construction sites; preparing plans, specifications, bids, and site layouts based upon engineers' designs; and preparing reports describing these activities. The emphasis is on practical aspects. Students use state-of-the-art equipment in small classes and laboratories taught by engineers who have years of experience in their fields. |
