Foundation Scholarships


The Pellissippi State Foundation provides numerous scholarships to students currently enrolled or preparing to enroll at Pellissippi State . These awards are made possible through donations from the community, faculty and staff.
Applications Procedures:

·         Complete the 2008-2009 Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA), and have the information sent to Pellissippi State (Code 012693).

·         Complete the 2008-2009 Pellissippi State Scholarship Application Adobe Acrobat Reader

·         Attach a written recommendation from a high school counselor, faculty advisor, teacher or recognized professional person such as an employer.

Priority Deadline: March 15, 2008


The following are Additional Foundation Scholarships that are tentatively available for distribution for 2008-2009 pending funding:

Administrative Council

Amount of scholarship: $1,500 ($750 Fall and $750 Spring)
Requirements: 30 credit hours (college credit and/or remedial/developmental) at Pellissippi State ; minimum 2.5 GPA at Pellissippi State ; demonstrate financial need; written recommendation from faculty advisor, teacher, or recognized professional person such as an employer.

Alcoa Engineering Scholarship

Amount of scholarship: Tuition and Fees
Requirements: Full-time status, 2.5 cumulative GPA, East Tennessee resident. First preference to an African American engineering student. Second preference to other minority engineering student.

J.B. Allen Memorial Scholarship

Amount of scholarship: $400 Fall
Requirements: Full-time student majoring in music at Pellissippi State; 2.0 cumulative GPA; demonstrate financial need, but will not be required to comply with state or federal financial aid guidelines; written recommendation from faculty advisor, teacher, or recognized professional person such as an employer.

Altrusa (Sarah Ketron) International, Inc.

Amount of scholarship: $1,000 ($500 Fall and $500 Spring)
Requirements: Female, non-traditional student; 25 years old or older; enrolled in at least 9 credit hours; must have completed at least one semester of college credit with a GPA of 3.0; complete the Altrusa Scholarship application and be interviewed by the Altrusa Scholarship Committee; attend an Altrusa meeting.tr>

Altrusa (Pat Rush) International, Inc.

Amount of scholarship: $500 ($250 Fall and $250 Spring)
Requirements: Female student; enrolled in at least 9 credit hours; must provide an official transcript from the academic institution most recently attended with the application; Must be able to demonstrate a genuine financial need for the scholarship; complete the Altrusa Scholarship application and be interviewed by the Altrusa Scholarship Committee; attend an Altrusa meeting.

American Society of Professional Estimators

Amount of scholarship: Tuition and Fees
Requirements: The recipient must have completed a minimum of two semesters of course work at PSTCC; minimum 3.5 GPA; enrolled in the pre-engineering or Engineering Technologies programs or in any trade area (preferably with an interest in civil or construction career field). The student selected shall attend and be recognized during the formal fall dinner hosted by the A.S.P.E.

American Society for Quality Control

Amount of scholarship: $500
Requirements: 3.0 cumulative GPA; enrolled in a course of study leading to a career in a technical field which encompasses quality principles; recommendation by two (2) of his/her college faculty members; completed his/her college freshman year; be a full or part-time student.

Art Scholarship

Amount of scholarship: To be determined
Requirements: Must be a student beginning their second+ year (must have completed two semesters); declared art major carrying a minimum of 9 hours per semester (12 preferred); minimum 2.00 GPA

Associated Construction Women/Carol Meade Scholarship Fund

Amount of scholarship: $1,500 ($750 Fall and $750 Spring)
Requirements: Resident of East Tennessee; Be enrolled in a "Construction Industry Program" and /or "Interior Design" and maintained a minimum grade-point average of 2.75 from the high school or college which the student last attended; receive a written recommendation from high school counselor, faculty advisor, teacher, or recognized professional person such as an employer; demonstrate financial need, but will not be required to comply with state or federal financial aid guidelines. Recipient of award must attend one meeting of Associated Construction Women, Knoxville , TN. A female enrolled in the "Construction Industry Program" and / or "Interior Design."

BarberMcMurray Architects Scholarship Fund

Amount of scholarship: $500 Fall
Requirements: Minimum 3.0 high school or college GPA. Preference to a student in an architecture-related major such as Computer Integrated Drafting and Design or Civil Engineering Technology.

Mary Anne Beall/KARM Scholarship

Amount of scholarship: $850 ($425 Fall and $425 Spring)
Requirements: Demonstrate financial need; demonstrate potential for academic success at Pellissippi State ; minimum 2.5 GPA; written recommendation from high school counselor, faculty advisor, teacher, or recognized professional person such as an employer. Preference to a client or former client of Knox Area Rescue Ministries (KARM) program.

Bechtel Women of Oak Ridge Book Scholarship

Amount of scholarship: To be determined
Requirements: Female; preference to a single parent reentering the job market; enrolling in an Engineering Technologies program of study; 2.5 GPA; demonstrate potential for academic success at Pellissippi State; written recommendation from a high school counselor, faculty advisor, teacher, or recognized professional person such as an employer.

Blount Memorial Hospital Nursing Scholarship

Amount of scholarship: $1,000 ($500 Fall and $500 Spring)
Requirements: Enrolled in the pre-nursing program of study at PSTCC with the intention of pursuing a B.S. in Nursing from East Tennessee State University; be a resident of Blount County, TN; maintained a minimum grade-point average of 3.0 or its equivalent in the high school or college which the student last attended; be enrolled full-time at PSTCC; receive a written recommendation from a high school counselor, faculty advisor, teacher, or recognized professional person such as an employer.

Earl and Bette Bunney Scholarship

Amount of scholarship: $500 Fall
Requirements: Preference to a full-time student in an engineering technology major (if none available, scholarship may be awarded to any worthy student, full-time or part-time; demonstrate financial need, but not required to comply with state or federal financial aid guidelines; receive a written recommendation from a high school counselor, faculty advisor, teacher, or recognized professional person such as an employer.

Jane and Michael Casey Scholarship

Amount of scholarship: $500 Fall
Requirements: Preference to a full-time student majoring in math or a math related major (physics, engineering, computer science); if none available, scholarship may be awarded to any worthy student, full-time or part-time; receive written recommendation for the scholarship from his/her college faculty advisor, teacher, or recognized professional person such as an employer; demonstrate financial need, but not required to comply with state or federal financial aid guidelines.

Child of Support Staff Employee Scholarship

Amount of scholarship: $750 ($375 Fall and $375 Spring)
Requirements: Full-time status; child of a support staff employee at Pellissippi State ; demonstrate potential for academic success; written recommendation from a high school counselor, faculty advisor, teacher, or recognized professional person such as an employer.

Construction Financial Management Association Scholarship (I)

Amount of scholarship: $1,500 ($750 Fall and $750 Spring)
Requirements: Be enrolled as an accounting major at Pellissippi State; demonstrate financial need; be enrolled full-time at Pellissippi State; have maintained a minimum grade-point average of 2.5 or its equivalent in the high school or college which the student last attended; receive a written recommendation for the scholarship from a high school guidance counselor or college faculty advisor, teacher, or recognized professional person such as his/her employer; attend at least one meeting of the Construction Financial Management Association.

Construction Financial Management Association Scholarship (II)

Amount of scholarship: $1,500 ($750 Fall and $750 Spring)
Requirements: Be enrolled as a civil engineering major at Pellissippi State; demonstrate financial need; be enrolled full-time at Pellissippi State; have maintained a minimum grade-point average of 2.5 or its equivalent in the high school or college which the student last attended; receive a written recommendation for the scholarship from a high school guidance counselor or college faculty advisor, teacher, or recognized professional person such as his/her employer; attend at least one meeting of the Construction Financial Management Association.

DENSO Manufacturing Tennessee Scholarship

Amount of scholarship: $500 Fall
Requirements: Preference to a full-time; demonstrate a potential for academic success and financial need, but will not be required to comply with state or federal financial aid guidelines; have maintained a minimum GPA of 2.5 or its equivalent in the high school or college which the student last attended; must be a graduate of a public Blount County High School; receive a written recommendation for the scholarship from his/her high school guidance counselor, faculty advisor, teacher, or recognized professional person

Lana Doncaster Scholarship

Amount of scholarship: $500 Fall
Requirements: Be enrolled full-time as an education major at Pellissippi State; demonstrate financial need but not subject to federal guidelines; have maintained a minimum grade-point average of 3.0 or its equivalent in the high school or college which the student last attended; receive a written recommendation for the scholarship from a high school guidance counselor or college faculty advisor, teacher, or recognized professional person such as his/her employer.

East Tennessee Chapter of the Society of Professional Journalists

Amount of scholarship: $500 Fall
Requirements: A student from PSTCC who is interested in pursuing a career in print or electronic journalism.

Allen and Polly Edwards Scholarship

Amount of scholarship: $500 Fall
Requirements: Demonstrate financial need; demonstrate potential for academic success at Pellissippi State ; full-time status; minimum 2.5 GPA; written recommendation from high school counselor, faculty advisor, teacher, or recognized professional person such as an employer.

Executive Women International

Amount of scholarship: $500 Fall
Requirements: Demonstrate financial need; enrolled full or part-time in a degree seeking program at PSTCC; 18 years of age or older; maintain a minimum of a 2.5 GPA or its equivalent in the high school or college which the student last attended; have completed at least one semester (12 hours) of college-level courses; receive two written recommendations for the scholarship from his/her high school guidance counselor or college faculty advisor, teacher, or recognized professional person such as his/her employer. Preference will be given to female students, displaced homemakers, and head of household with small child(ren).

Faculty Council

Amount of scholarship: Tuition and Fees
Requirements: Full-time status; 3.0 GPA; two full-time college-level semesters completed at Pellissippi State (current semester enrollment may count as the second full-time semester); written recommendation from a full-time or part-time faculty member. Two scholarships for students in the University Parallel program, one scholarship for student in a business technology program and one scholarship for student in the Engineering Technologies program.

Farragut Lions Club/John C. Morgan and John Cross Scholarship Fund

Amount of scholarship: $500 Fall
Requirements: Farragut High School graduate; full-time status; demonstrate financial need; 2.5 cumulative GPA.

First Tennessee Foundation Scholarship

Amount of scholarship: $500 Fall
Requirements: Must be a full-time student; must demonstrate financial need but will not be required to comply with state or federal aid guidelines; must have maintained a minimum 3.0 GPA in the high school or college last attended; must receive a written recommendation for the scholarship from his/her high school guidance counselor or college faculty advisor, teacher, or recognized professional person; preference will be given to a child of an employee or an employee of the First Horizon National Corporation, formerly First Tennessee Bank. If none are available, the scholarship may be awarded to another worthy student.

Future Teachers Scholarship

Amount of scholarship: $250 Fall
Requirements: Be a full-time student majoring in Teacher Education at Pellissippi State; receive a written recommendation for the scholarship from his/her high school guidance counselor, faculty advisor, teacher, or recognized professional person; demonstrate a combination of potential and a financial need, but will not be required to comply with state or federal financial aid guidelines.

Harriette Vankey Bruns Scholarship

Amount of scholarship: To be determined
Requirements: Preference to a full-time student majoring in music and in their second or third semester with a minimum of 12 hours completed at PSTCC; the recipient must have made a significant contribution to and exhibit the potential to increase the excellence of the PSTCC program as determined by the full-time music faculty; receive a written recommendation for the scholarship from his/her college faculty advisor, teacher, or recognized professional person; demonstrate financial need, but will not be required to comply with state or federal financial aid guidelines.

Joshua Adrian Garland Memorial Scholarship Fund

Amount of scholarship: $1000 ($500 Fall and $500 Spring)
Requirements: Be either a full-time or part-time student at Pellissippi State; have maintained a minimum GPA of 2.5 or its equivalent in the high school or college which the student last attended; be either an Education or English major; preference will be given to a student who is attending the Blount County Center; demonstrate financial need, but will not be required to comply with state or federal financial aid guidelines; receive a written recommendation for the scholarship from his/her high school guidance counselor or college faculty advisor, teacher , or recognized professional person.

Valorie Hall Memorial Biology Scholarship

Amount of scholarship: $350
Requirements: Be enrolled in a biology or health professions major; have maintained a minimum GPA of 3.4 from the college which the student last attended; be enrolled as a full-time PSTCC student; have completed 24 hours of college-level coursework, including eight semester hours of science coursework; provide a written recommendation for the scholarship from his/her college faculty advisor, teacher, or recognized professional person such as his/her employer.

Hotel/Lodging Association

Amount of scholarship: $500
Requirements: Student currently enrolled in the Hospitality and Tourism Program at PSTCC and working for a member company of the Hotel/Lodging Association.

Hotel/Lodging Association, Tennessee

Amount of scholarship: $500
Requirements: Enrolled full-time in the Hospitality/Travel/Tourism program at PSTCC; maintained an above average GPA in the high school or college which the student last attended;demonstrate financial need.

Insurance Professionals of Greater Knoxville

Amount of scholarship: $500 ($250 Fall and $250 Spring)
Requirements: Enrolled in either a Management or one of the Business Technology fields; student must display high potential; minimum 3.0 GPA; student should be in need of financial assistance.

George R. Jasny Memorial Scholarship

Amount of scholarship: $500 Fall
Requirements: Maintained a minimum of 2.5 GPA or its equivalent in the high school or college which the student last attended; receive a written recommendation for the scholarship from his/her high school guidance counselor or college faculty advisor, teacher, or recognized professional person such as his/her employer; demonstrate potential for academic success at Pellissippi State.

George R. Jasny/PAI Corporation

Amount of scholarship: $500 ($250 Fall and $250 Spring)
Requirements: Demonstrate financial need and self-help; enrolled full-time (12 hours or more) or part-time (minimum of 6 hours) at PSTCC; maintained a minimum of 2.5 GPA or its equivalent in the high school or college which the student last attended; receive a written recommendation for the scholarship from his/her high school guidance counselor or college faculty advisor, teacher, or recognized professional person such as his/her employer. Preference will be given to a student of Indochinese heritage.

William K. Jones Memorial Scholarship

Amount of scholarship: $500 Fall
Requirements: Demonstrate financial need; demonstrate potential for academic success at Pellissippi State ; full-time status; minimum 2.5 GPA; written recommendation from high school counselor, faculty advisor, teacher, or recognized professional person such as an employer.

Knoxville Association of Legal Administrators Scholarship

Amount of scholarship: $250 Fall
Requirements: Be a full-time or part-time student majoring in paralegal studies; receive a written recommendation for the scholarship from his/her high school guidance counselor, faculty advisor, teacher, or recognized professional person; demonstrate a combination of potential and a financial need, but will not be required to comply with state or federal financial aid guidelines.

Mathematics Department Scholarship

Amount of scholarship: $1,000 ($500 Fall and $500 Spring)
Requirements: Full-time status; 3.5 math GPA; 3.0 overall GPA; pre/corequisite second semester calculus. Preference to a student demonstrating financial need but will not require compliance with state or federal financial aid guidelines.

Mount Rest Home Foundation

Amount of scholarship: $500 ($250 Fall and $250 Spring)
Requirements: Single female; demonstrate financial need but will not be required to comply with state or federal financial aid guidelines; enrolled full-time (12 hours or more) or part-time (minimum of 6 hours) at PSTCC; maintained a minimum of 2.0 GPA or its equivalent in the high school or college which the student last attended; receive a written recommendation for the scholarship from his/her high school guidance counselor or college faculty advisor, teacher, or recognized professional person such as his/her employer.

National Association of Women in Construction/Jane Ellen Chance Scholarship Fund

Amount of scholarship: $1,000 ($500 Fall and $500 Spring)
Requirements: Enrollment in a construction field. Preference given to a female student; cumulative GPA of 3.0; East Tennessee resident; demonstrate financial need; attendance at an organization meeting as determined by the donor.

Glen Nicely Scholarship

Amount of scholarship: $500 Fall
Requirements: Demonstrate financial need; demonstrate a potential for academic success; enrolled at PSTCC; maintained a minimum GPA of 2.5 or its equivalent in the high school or college which the student last attended; receive a written recommendation for the scholarship form his or her high school guidance counselor or college faculty advisor, teacher, or recognized professional person such as his/her employer.

Staffing Solutions Scholarship

Amount of scholarship: $350 Fall
Requirements: Demonstrate financial need; demonstrate potential for academic success at Pellissippi State ; minimum 2.5 GPA; written recommendation from high school counselor, faculty advisor, teacher, or recognized professional person such as an employer.

Kesha Sullins Memorial Scholarship

Amount of scholarship: $240 Fall
Requirements: Demonstrate financial need; but will not require compliance with state or federal financial aid guidelines; minimum 2.0 GPA or its equivalent in the high school or college which the student last attended; written recommendation from high school counselor, faculty advisor, teacher, or recognized professional person such as an employer; be enrolled either as a full-time or part-time student; preference given to a single parent; preference given to a student who has a GED diploma.

Sun Coke General Scholarship

Amount of scholarship: $500 Fall
Requirements: Enrolled for at least six hours at PSTCC; maintained a minimum GPA of 2.0 or its equivalent in the high school or college which the student last attended.

Tennessee Valley Human Resources Association

Amount of scholarship: $2,000 ($1,00 Fall and $1,000 Spring)
Requirements: Be enrolled full-time at Pellissippi State majoring in either human resources, business or management; have maintained a high GPA in the high school or college which the student last attended; receive a written recommendation for the scholarship from a high school guidance counselor or college faculty advisor, teacher, or recognized professional person such as his/her employer; attend at least one meeting of the association.

Lucille S. Thompson Family Foundation (I)

Amount of scholarship: $350 Fall
Requirements: Demonstrate financial need; demonstrate potential for academic success at Pellissippi State ; minimum 2.5 GPA; written recommendation from high school counselor, faculty advisor, teacher, or recognized professional person such as an employer.

Lucille S. Thompson Family Foundation (II)

Amount of scholarship: $500 Fall
Requirements: Demonstrate financial need; demonstrate potential for academic success at Pellissippi State ; minimum 2.5 GPA; written recommendation from high school counselor, faculty advisor, teacher, or recognized professional person such as an employer.

Tucket Scholarship

Amount of scholarship: Tuition and books up to $1500
Requirements: Demonstrate financial need; be enrolled full time; receive a written recommendation from the student's high school guidance counselor or college faculty advisor, teacher or recognized professional; minimum 2.5 GPA; preference given to an employee or a child of an employee of the Donor's companies. If none available, scholarship may be awarded to another worthy student.

West Chevrolet Endowment Fund

Amount of scholarship: $500 ($250 Fall and $250 Spring)
Requirements: Demonstrate financial need; enrolled full-time (12 hours) or part-time (minimum of 6 hours) at PSTCC; have maintained a minimum GPA of 2.0 or its equivalent in the high school or college which the student last attended; be a resident of Blount County, TN; receive a written recommendation for the scholarship from his/her high school guidance counselor or college faculty advisor, teacher, or recognized professional person such as his/her employer.

Jack Wilson International Scholarship

Amount of scholarship: To be determined
Requirements: Be a student whose native country is not the United States ; demonstrate financial need by letter from the student with supporting documentation and approval by the International Admissions Coordinator; have maintained a minimum GPA of 3.0 overall; have completed at least one semester at Pellissippi State ; be enrolled as a full time student.

Martin Winfrey Memorial Scholarship

Amount of scholarship: $1,000 ($500 Fall and $500 Spring)
Requirements: Full-time student enrolled in an engineering program; minimum 2.5 GPA in the high school or college which the student last attended; written recommendation from high school counselor, faculty advisor, teacher, or recognized professional person such as an employer.

Fred Young Scholarship

Amount of scholarship: $500 ($250 Fall and $250 Spring)
Requirements: Demonstrate financial need, but will not require compliance with state or federal financial aid guidelines; full-time enrollment; minimum 2.5 GPA in the high school or college which the student last attended; written recommendation from high school counselor, faculty advisor, teacher, or recognized professional person such as an employer.
