Overview All of the schools
in TBR, including Pellissippi State are implementing a new software
system called Banner for admissions, registration, grades, degree
audit, advising, financial aid, human resources, payroll, business
office, and advancement.
One of the features in
Banner is a portal. The Banner portal is a Web-based tool that
provides a single sign-on for all Banner software meaning students,
faculty and staff will only need to remember one user ID and
password. The single sign-on will work for administrative tools
such as Banner Student, Banner HR, Banner Finance and Banner
Advancement. It also will work for student, faculty and staff
tools such as Web for Students, Web for Faculty, Web for Employees,
e-mail, WebCT and library databases. The portal will provide
new and innovative tools by which students, faculty and staff
communicate with each other and with which employees manage the
content of the College’s various Web pages.
The Banner project at
Pellissippi State has already begun and
scheduled completing is August 2008. Banner Advancement will go
into production August 2006, Banner HR January 2007, Banner Finance
July 2007 and Banner Student January 2008.

A campus calendar of Banner training and implementation
events is accessible through Outlook under the Public Folders
tab. In addition, you can access all materials from the Banner
folder located on PSTCC3, by clicking on the documentation button on
your left. As the project moves forward, meeting minutes and
announcements will be generated and e-mails will be sent
out.
The implementation of the Banner system will be lengthy,
complex and challenging, but the benefits will be worth the
efforts required to make it a success.
