Common Courses for MOST Nursing Programs 

 

Students starting a nursing program who are unsure of the nursing school in which they wish to transfer may take one full semester of course work that is common to most nursing programs before making a decision. They should choose the advising code NURS (pre-nursing major). The schedule below assumes completion of developmental coursework.

2 UTK requires MATH 2050.

3 PSY 1010 is required by ETSU, UTK, Tennessee Wesleyan, WSCC, and King College; PSY 2400

is required by PSCC, as well as Carson-Newman, RSCC, King, and both of LMUŐs programs.

4SPH is required by all schools except University of Tennessee. However, students following an

articulation agreement for UTK should take SPH 2100.

5English Composition II is required for the bachelor of science in nursing (BSN) only, not the 
   associate degree in nursing. Note – King CollegeŐs BSN program does not require this course.

The information provided above is for students planning to transfer to another institution without graduating from PSCC. 

For students interested in graduating from PSCC, the following options are available:

Articulation with UTK in Nursing

Leads to an associate of science degree from PSCC and 
a bachelorŐs degree in nursing (BSN) from UT, Knoxville (major code: INUR)

Articulation with Tennessee Wesleyan College in Nursing

Leads to an associate of science degree from PSCC and a bachelorŐs degree in nursing (BSN) from Tennessee Wesleyan College (major code: NURS)

General AssociateŐs Degree

 Leads to an associate of arts or associate of science 
degree from PSCC (See your advisor for information about necessary courses.) (major code: NURS)
