Welcome from the Dean

I extend to you a hearty welcome to the Department of Nursing at Pellissippi State Community College! Pellissippi State was granted initial approval by the Tennessee Board of Nursing on September 25, 2009 to begin an Associate of Applied Science in Nursing Degree program. Admission of our first class of nursing students will occur in August 2010 at our Magnolia and Blount County campuses!

Nursing is a profession which delivers great personal and professional rewards. Nursing is a blend of compassion, caring, scientific knowledge, and technology; often called the "art and science of nursing". With the patient at the center of your work, you will join over 2.9 million registered nurses who are committed to helping others.

I am the Dean of Nursing at Pellissippi State Community College. My specialty is leadership and management in nursing. My passion is assisting you to succeed in fulfilling your goal of becoming a PSCC nursing graduate and licensure to become a Registered Nurse. My current interests include creating and maintaining a nursing educational program of excellence and secondly, a commitment to creating a program that educates the "BEST" nursing can offer to the public (caring, skilled, effective, compassionate, and intelligent Registered Nurses!)

I am committed to providing students opportunities for an excellent nursing education and am charged by the Tennessee State Board of Nursing, American Nurses Association, and the public to exit only those students exhibiting the minimum competencies established by the profession of nursing.

I wish you great success on your journey to fulfill your goal of becoming a Registered Nurse!
