Expected Outcomes

The outcomes that are anticipated for this program include the following:

Program Success

The content of the SEAT program at PSTCC must be relevant and effective. It must be relevant and effective with respect to the needs of the local security industry, AND as a means of equipping graduates to accomplish their career objectives. Course content must be dynamic as the needs in the security industry are constantly in a state of flux. About the only thing predictable about security is that it is unpredictable. As criminals become more sophisticated and terrorists adapt their tactics to continually try to defeat our best countermeasures, the application of security principles must also be dynamic. The nature of security is that it is proactive and preventive, while simultaneously adhering to Constitutional Principles of self-governance. The SEAT program attempts to keep a balanced perspective; a recognition of the dynamic tension between individual liberty and social order.

Student Success

Students will be introduced to the rapidly changing world of technology and the opportunities to exploit that technology to accomplish a degree of social order while preserving the individual liberties that define us as a nation and a people. Students will learn critical thinking skills, fundamental security principles, proven past practices, and innovative ways to define problem(s) and arrive at solutions. It is important for potential students to realize that security is serious business. This program is intended to challenge and inspire students towards excellence. Mediocrity is NOT one of our performance standards.

Graduate Success

The success of the SEAT program will be judged, ultimately, on how, and where, our graduates are placed. At the "end of the game" here at PSTCC, the graduate will have options of entering a career field or continuing their education. In either case, the preparation they receive here should be the best that can be found at the Community College level.
