Mr. Swayne received his Bachelor of Science and Masters' of Science in Electrical Engineering from the University of Tennessee. 

Mr. Swayne has worked in industry for 13 years prior to coming to Pellissippi State Technical Community College.  He is a licensed Professional Engineer in the States of Tennessee and holds an inactive license in Louisiana.  He has worked as an Engineer for J.M. Huber Corporation, an Instrument Engineer for American Cyanamid Incorporated, and Section Leader of I&C and Electrical Engineering for Thermatrix, Inc.  Mr. Swayne has operated a consulting business to provide Electrical and Control Engineering solutions for commercial and industrial clients.  He continues to provide consulting services to industry on a limited basis.

Mr. Swayne has taught PLC programming, electrical and electronics courses prior to joining Pellissippi State. In addition, Mr. Swayne has conducted several control system training sessions for a variety of companies.  He is teaching Electrical Circuits, Programmable Controllers, and special topics courses in the technology program for PSTCC.  In addition, he is teaching Statics and Engineering Circuit Analysis in the University Parallel program for PSTCC.

Mr. Swayne is a professional member of the Institute for Electrical and Electronics Engineers and the American Society for Engineering Education.
