Topics
include elementary probability theory, concepts of descriptive
statistics, discrete and continuous distributions, hypothesis testing,
confidence intervals, sample sizes, correlation, regression,
multinomial and contingency tables. Non-calculus based. Computer
applications will be investigated.

What
are the prerequisites?
Two years of high school
algebra and ACT math score of at least 19, or DSPM 0850(DSM 0840) or
equivalent math placement score.
A Distance-Learning student
must be self- motivated, organized and an independent learner. Here is a link to help you determine if

What books,
calculator and software do I need?
Essentials of Statistics,
3rd ed., Triola , Addison Wesley Longman, Reading MA 2008. (required).
Statdisk Student
Laboratory Manual and Workbook, Triola, Pearson Addison-Wesley,
Boston MA 2007 (required)
Statdisk program (2008),
provided on CD in back pocket of text and/or available to download.
Computers in open labs on campus have Statdisk available also.

Scientific Calculator that
will compute two-variable statistics is the minimum requirement. A
TI-83/83 Plus/84 is recommended. The textbook references this
calculator type.

You must have a computer (PC
or Apple) and have internet access. "Desire to Learn" or D2L is the
course management software. If you have questions/concerns about this new (fall '07)

Do
I have to come to campus for anything?
Yes, if you are a
local student, you will be taking written tests in the testing center.
All tests are proctored. (Quizzes are taken online)
If you are an
out of town student, arrangements can be made for proctored testing in
your area.
Are
