NATIONAL SCIENCE FOUNDATION 
COMPUTER SCIENCE, ENGINEERING and MATHEMATICS SCHOLARSHIP
ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS
Scholarship recipients must meet the following criteria: 
  • Be U.S. citizens, nationals, or aliens admitted as refugees at  time of application.
  • Have unmet financial need as defined by the U.S. Department of Education Rules for Financial Aid.
  • Be accepted for admission to Pellissippi State.
  • Be enrolled full time (12+ credit hours) in Computer Science, Computer Science Technology, Pre-engineering,   Engineering Technology, or Mathematics degree programs.
  • Demonstrate academic merit by GPA, standardized test scores and class rank.
MAINTENANCE REQUIREMENTS
Scholarship recipients will participate in the following: 
  • Special orientation sessions and workshops.
  • A mentoring relationship with a professional in the student's field of study.
  • Relevant campus student professional organizations and activities.
  • Tutoring activities as needed.
 
SCHOLARSHIP RECIPIENTS WILL BE REQUIRED TO MAINTAIN A GPA  
OF AT LEAST 2.5 EACH SEMESTER.

APPLICATION PROCEDURE

Applicants must submit ALL of the following before the application will be considered: 
  • A completed Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) for the current academic year.  Have results sent to Pellissippi State.  The FAFSA can be filed electronically by the Financial Aid Office, GN114, Pellissippi Campus. You must bring the completed FAFSA and signed copies of pertinent tax returns with you in order to file electronically.
  • A completed NSF Computer Science, Engineering, and Mathematics Scholarship Application.                                                                                         (Follow link at bottom of page for Electronic Application)
  • A 250 word essay explaining the reasons for choosing this particular field of study, career goals and plans for the future.
  • Two letters of recommendation.  One letter must be from a teacher; the other can be from a counselor or advisor or a recognized professional person, such as an employer, who can attest to the student's potential in his/her chosen field of study.
  • High School students need to submit an unofficial High School transcript with the application.  Transfer students need to submit unofficial transcripts from all colleges previously attended with the application.
