Fee Discounts and Waivers

Fee discounts are available for the following students:

Spouse and Dependent Children of TBR and UT Employees

Fee discounts up to 50 percent (50%) of student fees are available to spouses and dependent children of regular full-time and regular part-time employees of the Tennessee Board of Regents and fifty percent (50%) of tuition only for the University of Tennessee.

Eligibility:

  1. Full time employees are eligible immediately after hire.
  2. Regular part-time employees are eligible after one or more years of service working a minimum of fifty percent (50%) time.
  3. Employees who have continuous full-time service immediately preceding retirement or death have limited eligibility.
  4. Dependent children are defined as:
    1. Natural children 26 years of age or under.
    2. Stepchildren 26 years of age or under.
    3. Legally adopted children 26 years of age or under.
    4. Other individuals 26 years of age or under living in parent/child relationship.
  5. The status of the UT or TBR employee and the age of the dependent on the first published day of classes each semester determines eligibility for the entire semester.

Enrollment Criteria:

  1. Classes must be undergraduate classes taken at TBR or UT institutions.
  2. The classes must be credit classes. Auditing a credit class is allowed.
  3. Correspondence or non-credit courses are not eligible.
  4. There is no limit on the number of credit hours enrolled per semester.
  5. Early registration is allowed.

Amount of Fees Paid:

TBR Employees


  1. Spouse or dependent of full-time TBR employee:
    • The discount pays fifty percent (50%) of tuition, campus access, student government, recreation center and technology fees rounded to the nearest dollar.
  2. Spouse or dependent of regular part-time TBR employee:
    • The discount pays a prorated amount based on percentage of time worked. Example: An 80 percent employee would receive a discount equal to 80 percent of the 50 percent calculated in item 1 above for their eligible spouse or dependents.

UT Employees

  1. Spouse or dependent of full time UT employee:
    • The discount pays fifty percent (50%) of tuition only rounded to the nearest dollar.
  2. Spouse or dependent of regular part-time UT employee:
    • The discount pays a prorated amount based on percentage of time worked. Example: An 80 percent employee would receive a discount equal to 80 percent of the 50 percent calculated in item 1 above for their eligible spouse or dependents.

Payment Requirements:

  1. A request for fee discount for spouse and/or dependent form must be completed each semester to certify eligibility.
    • The forms are available at the employee's workplace.
    • The forms must be signed a staff member of the human resources office.
  2. The original form should be submitted at time of fee payment but must be submitted within the first two weeks of classes to be accepted for the semester.
  3. Fees must be paid by the due date to avoid deletion of the student schedule.

Dependents of Licensed Public School Teachers or State Employees

Fee discounts equal to 25 percent of tuition only are available to dependents of full-time licensed teachers or full-time employees of the state of Tennessee.

Eligibility:

  1. Full-time employees who are licensed by the Tennessee Department of Education and employed by any local board of education in Tennessee are eligible immediately after hire.
  2. Full-time employees who are employed by the state of Tennessee are eligible immediately after hire.
  3. Employees who retired with at least twenty-five (25) years of full-time service with the state of Tennessee are eligible.
  4. Dependents of employees who died while a full-time employee of the state of Tennessee are eligible.
  5. Dependent children are defined as:
    • Natural children 23 years of age or under.
    • Stepchildren 23 years of age or under.
    • Legally adopted children 23 years of age or under.
    • Other individuals 23 years of age or under living in parent/child relationship.
  6. The status of the licensed teacher or state of Tennessee employee and the age of the dependent on the first published day of classes each semester determines eligibility for the entire semester.

Enrollment Criteria:

  1. Classes must be undergraduate classes taken at TBR or UT institutions.
  2. The classes must be credit classes. Auditing a credit class is allowed.
  3. Correspondence or non-credit courses are not eligible.

The discount pays twenty-five percent (25%) of tuition rounded to the nearest dollar.


Payment Requirements:

  1. A request for fee discount form must be completed each semester to certify eligibility.

    • The form must be signed by the employee, his or her employer, and the student.
  2. The original form should be submitted at time of fee payment but must be submitted within the first two weeks of classes to be accepted for the semester.
  3. Fees must be paid by the due date to avoid deletion of the student schedule.

Fee waivers are available for the following students:

Fee Waiver for TBR/UT System Employees (PC191)

Full-time employees of the TBR and UT systems are eligible to enroll in one course per term with fees waived on a space available basis.

Eligibility:

  1. All full-time employees (faculty, administrators, and support staff) of the universities, community colleges, technical institutes, Tennessee technology centers, and Central Office staff are eligible immediately after hire.
  2. The status of the employee on the first published day of classes each semester determines eligibility for the entire semester.
  3. Employees are not eligible for fee waivers at more than one institution per term.

Enrollment Criteria:

  1. The class may be a graduate or undergraduate class taken at TBR or UT institutions.
  2. The class must be a credit class. Auditing a credit class is allowed.
  3. Correspondence or non-credit courses are not eligible.
  4. Early registration is NOT allowed. The employee cannot register for the course until after the priority registration period.

Amount of Fees Paid:

The waiver pays all of the tuition, campus access, student government, recreation center, and technology fees for one class per term.


Payment Requirements:

  1. A request for fee waiver form must be completed each semester to certify eligibility.
    • The form is available at the employee's workplace.
    • The form must be signed by a staff member of the human resources office.

PSCC Clerical Support and Staff Maintenance Fee Payment Program (P-130)

Tennessee Board of Regents Guidelines

This program is designed to provide assistance for an employee who takes credit courses in a degree program while continuing work responsibilities at Pellissippi State. The program should enhance the value of the employee to Pellissippi State.

Eligibility:

  1. Must be a full-time or part-time clerical/support staff member at Pellissippi State for at least six months.
  2. The proposed study must enhance the employee’s value to Pellissippi State.
  3. Satisfactory completion of coursework must be demonstrated to receive reimbursement and to remain eligible for additional assistance.
  4. The recipient, unless retired, shall be required, after completion of the course or courses, to be employed by Pellissippi State for not less than one (1) month of full-time employment for each month of the term of participation in the program.

Enrollment Criteria:

  1. Enrolled credit hours cannot exceed six credit hours per term.
  2. Employee may enroll in more than one course during the summer as long as the summer terms in which the classes are to be taken do not overlap.
  3. Early registration is allowed.
  4. The classes must be credit classes. Auditing a credit class is not allowed.
  5. Courses should be scheduled in counsel with supervisors to assure maintenance of optimum job performance.

Amount of Fees Paid:

The fee payment program pays actual maintenance or tuition-related fees for a maximum of six credit hours per term.


Payment Requirements:

  1. A Clerical and Support Staff Maintenance Tuition or Maintenance Fee Reimbursement Program Recommendation/Contract Form must be submitted each semester to certify eligibility.
    • The form is available on myPellissippi on the Employees tab.
    • The form must be signed by the employee, financial manager, member of the President’s staff, Human Resources staff member and the President.
  2. The original form should be submitted by the fee payment deadline to avoid deletion of the student schedule.

Fee Waiver for State Employees

Full-time employees of the State of Tennessee are eligible to enroll in one course per term with fees waived on a space available basis.

Eligibility:

  1. All full-time employees of the State of Tennessee executive, judicial or legislative branches are eligible after six months of continuous service.
  2. The status of the employee on the first published day of classes each semester determines eligibility for the entire semester.
  3. Employees are not eligible for fee waivers at more than one institution per term.

Enrollment Criteria:

  1. The class may be a graduate or undergraduate class taken at TBR or UT institutions.
  2. The class must be a credit class. Auditing a credit class is NOT allowed.
  3. Correspondence or non-credit courses are not eligible.
  4. Early registration is NOT allowed. The employee cannot register for the course until after the priority registration period.

Amount of Fees Paid:

The waiver pays all of the tuition, campus access, student government, recreation center and technology fees for one class per term.

Over 60/65 Disabled

Reduced Rate Registration - Student 60+ Years of Age/Permanently Disabled.
Under T.C.A. Section 49-7-113, people with permanent disabilities and Tennessee residents 60 or older are eligible to enroll in courses on a space-available basis for audit without payment of tuition, campus access, student government, student recreation center, technology, international education and late fees. The application fee and all applicable special course fees are charged.

People with permanent disabilities and Tennessee residents 65 years of age or older are eligible to enroll in courses on a space-available basis for credit without payment of tuition, campus access, student government, student recreation center, technology, international education and late fees. A service fee not to exceed $70 per semester will be charged. The application fee and all applicable special course fees are charged.

People with permanent disabilities must contact the Services for Students with Disabilities office to be certified as eligible for either program. Senior citizens must see the Cashier's office to be certified as eligible for either program.

People with permanent disabilities and senior citizen discounts do not apply to continuing education programs.
