FAQ: Frequently Asked Questions on Giving
Q: How big is the College’s budget and where does the money come from?
A: For fiscal year ending 2005, the College’s budget was more than $47 million. Although the state is still the largest single source of funding, state contributions have eroded to approximately 50% of the College's educational and operating budget.
The College’s revenue comes from restricted and unrestricted funds. Unrestricted funds are funds over which the institution retains full control. Primary sources of unrestricted funds are tuition and fees and state appropriations. Other sources of revenue include federal and state contracts and grants, private gifts, and other contracts and sources.
Restricted funds are utilized only in activities with purposes established by their source and include federal, state, and local contracts and grants; some student fees; private gifts; and a small portion of state appropriations (less than 1%).
