State Foundation
"You make a living by what you get, but you make a life by what
you give."
--Winston Churchill
The Foundation is dedicated to the support and advancement of the
objectives of Pellissippi State. With its nearly 8,000 credit students, Pellissippi State is the second largest
institution of higher learning in Knox, Blount, and 20 other surrounding
counties. The College combines a rigorous academic environment with an
affordable cost and, as such, is an invaluable community asset. Pellissippi State had a $111.4 million economic
impact on our region each year for the years 2000 to 2005. (The annual
economic impact studies are available through the College's Fact
Book).
Foundation contributors include hundreds of individuals, public and
private organizations, and business and governmental entities. Outside
support, which also offers certain tax benefits to the donors, is crucial
to maintaining the College’s mission in our
community—particularly in light of the fact that state contributions
have eroded to approximately 50 percent of the College’s operating
budget.
Join us on May 6, 2008 for the
Golf Tournament and on September 26, 27 & 28, 2008 for the Pellissippi State Hot Air Balloon Festival.
The Foundation was chartered in the State of Tennessee in 1982 as a not-for-profit
organization. It gained tax-exempt status as a 501(c)(3) corporation in
March 1983. It is governed by a board of volunteers (see Foundation Board of Trustees) including
representatives of business, education, and industry; community leaders;
and donors.
